Nigerian govt prioritises ICT infrastructure improvements

7 juin 2012

The Nigerian government has made improving the country's ICT infrastructure one of its key priorities over the next few years, according to Omobola Johnson, the communications minister.

Indeed, the minister explained that the government is investing time and money to build a cost-effective infrastructure to increase access to ICT services, Daily Trust reports.

Ms Johnson observed that improvements to the country's ICT infrastructure could help to drive economic growth, while it will also boost the education system.

The issue of poor quality service could soon be a thing of the past once the desired changes have been implemented, she said.

In both 2010 and 2011, the ICT sector was the fastest growing area of the Nigerian economy and president Goodluck Jonathan is determined to see this momentum continue.

The Nigerian government is currently investing in a wide number of ambitious infrastructure projects, which it hopes will help to modernise the economy.
