Tanzania: Namanga Border Post Ready By December

CONSTRUCTION of the One-Stop-Border-Post (OSBP) at Namanga, in Longido District is expected to be completed by December, this year.

The Tanzania Roads Agency (TANROADS) has stated here that construction of the OSBP at Namanga was complete by half and the project would cost about 19bn/-.

The Regional TANROADS Manager, Engineer Desdedit Kakoko, said so far 7bn/-, which is 36 per cent has been paid to the contractor. He said the balance would be settled at the end of the assignment.

The OSBP project is funded by Japan. The border post is part of the 260-km Arusha - Athi River road project being undertaken through the East African Community with funds from the African Development Bank (AfDB).

The project was aimed at linking Arusha and Athi-River industrial area in the Southern Kajiado District of Kenya.
