In Sierra Leone, US$34 Million to Rehabilitate Matotoka-Safadu Road

The Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Dr. Samura Kamara, has on behalf of the Government of Sierra Leone signed a loan agreement and two grant agreements worth thirty-four million United States Dollars with the African Development Bank (ADB). The money is for the rehabilitation of the Highway leading into Kono.

According to the minister, the funds are expected to support  the project from Matotoka on to Yiye, whilst government is in the process of further soliciting additional funds. He referred to the signing as a ground breaking exercise, whilst noting the remarkable efforts made by government to develop the country’s infrastructure. The Minister further noted that infrastructural development is a joint responsibility between government and its people, stressing that with or without donor support, a country must be able to develop its infrastructure.
