30 December 2011

Ghana is set to host the Africa Investment Forum, aimed at discussing procurement and project funding across the continent next year.

The event, which will take place from March 28th to 29th 2012 and will be the tenth of its kind, and is organised by the Commonwealth Businesses Council (CBC) in partnership with the Government of Ghana and the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS).

Its theme will be centred around the acceleration of investment, providing heads of state with a platform to explore and discuss potential projects and opportunities.

According to organisers, key topics will include strengthening infrastructure for development, as well as agriculture and food security, and investment in regional trade.

There will also be discussions on oil and gas, mining, manufacturing, private equity, entrepreneurship and venture capital, as well as energy and tourism at the summit.

It was recently revealed that China has signed off loans totalling $13 billion ($8.4 billion) to Ghana in recent years.
