African countries commit to funding water and sanitation in rural areas

World Water Forum - March 16, 2012

Republic of Congo, Ivory Coast, Niger, Chad, France, Italy and Switzerland have pledged $80 million as part of the Rural Water Supply Initiative in Africa. The announcement was made during the conference on the partnership for strengthening water security in Africa. This initiative is supported by the African Water Facility within the African Development Bank.

The conference ended with the launch of the 4th African Water week scheduled for 14-18 May 2012 in Cairo, Egypt.
