ICA Annual Meeting to focus on drive for quality infrastructure

21 April 2017

Taking place on 19 and 20 October 2017, and hosted by the Government of Italy, the theme of the meeting will be “Toward the Promotion of Smart and Integrated Infrastructure for Africa - An agenda for digitalisation, decarbonisation and mobility”.

The 2017 Annual Meeting of the ICA will be jointly organised by the African Development Bank and the Government of Italy (Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation), with the ICA. The first day, Thursday 19 October 2017, will be a meeting for ICA members and African stakeholders, while the Plenary Meeting will be on Friday 20 October 2017.

A background paper on the theme of the meeting will be published on the ICA website in due course. The meeting will also analyse and discuss the ICA’s 2016 “Infrastructure Financing Trends in Africa” report, which should be available in September from the ICA website.

The theme of the last ICA Annual Meeting, jointly organised by the Government of Japan (Ministry of Foreign Affairs and JICA) and the AfDB, which took place in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, in November 2016, was “Building Quality Infrastructure for Africa’s Development”.

Quality Infrastructure Investment ensures economic efficiency in view of life-cycle costs, safety, resilience against natural disaster, job creation, capacity building, and transfer of expertise and know-how on mutually agreed terms and conditions, while addressing social and environmental impacts and aligning with economic and development strategies.
