The report analyses the commitments and disbursement to infrastructure in Africa for 2010 by ICA Members and other sources of finance – also by sectoral and regional distribution.
In 2010 total external commitments have again increased significantly to about USD 55.9 billion compared to USD 38.4 billion in 2009. Commitments from ICA Members have increased by 44%, other financiers such as China and the Arab Funds have doubled their contributions, and private sector commitments have nearly recovered to pre-crisis levels.
This confirms that investment in infrastructure remains a high priority for African countries and an attractive opportunity for investors.

Africa's Infrastructure: A Time for Transformation
The Africa Infrastructure Country Diagnostic (AICD) is a comprehensive knowledge program commissioned by the ICA to improve understanding of Africa's infrastructure situation. The AICD assists policymakers in setting priorities for current infrastructure investments and provides a baseline for monitoring progress. The AICD’s flagship report, Africa’s Infrastructure: A Time for Transformation, analyses the state of Africa’s infrastructure, the spending needs and efficiency gains required to bridge the continent’s infrastructure gap. It presents a wealth of information and analysis to inform governments, utilities, private investors, donors, and civil society.

Review of Risk Mitigation Instruments published
Risk mitigation instruments can help mobilise commercial debt and private equity when governments or local infrastructure entities lack the creditworthiness or track record to attract finance on their own. A review of risk mitigation instruments for infrastructure financing, published by the World Bank and financed by the Public-Private Infrastructure Advisory Facility (PPIAF), provides a comprehensive guide what types of instruments are available, who provides them, how they might work together, and recent trends and developments. Case studies and in-depth details of products provided by both of multilateral and bilateral agencies are provided.
