Project Preparation Fund Finder

More and better infrastructure is crucial to Africa’s economic development, and project preparation is essential to the delivery of infrastructure. Many sorely needed projects do not see the light of day due to both inadequate funding during the project preparation phase and lack of knowledge of existing project preparation facilities that can help.

The ICA Project Preparation Fund Finder will provide a searchable, online database with important information on project preparation facilities, funding and services. It is designed to help project promoters, managers and financiers locate funding to lead their projects to financial close. The Fund Finder will also provide a unique location for Facilities to market their products, along with key project preparation statistics and information on what is available for the African continent.

Large, complex infrastructure projects rely on different forms of preparation finance to meet the specific demands of each project development phase. The concentration of funding tied to specific phases of the project cycle is a major challenge. The success and realisation of infrastructure projects demands sound preparation and well-managed, transparent processes throughout the project cycle, combined with timely matching of project preparation funding bodies.

The Fund Finder will provide improved access to available funding information, thereby enhancing and ensuring effective cooperation of funding organisations around one project.

The Fund Finder is compiled on behalf of the Infrastructure Consortium for Africa (ICA) and based on the Project Preparation Facilities User Guide, commissioned and published by the ICA and the Public Private Infrastructure Advisory Facility (PPIAF) in 2006.
