Germany intending to invest in energy infrastructures in Cameroon

17 March 2010

German Ambassador Karin Blumberger-Sauerteig met Cameroon Minister of Industry Badel Ndanga Ndinga on 12 March last to discuss co-operation in the energy sector.

There are a number of projects under way, and the purpose of the meeting was to present these to the German side in order to identify how Germany could best provide its expertise, as the daily La Tribune reports.

“I believe that with the cutting edge technology which we possess, my country can provide great support for Cameroon”, the Ambassador declared after the meeting.

One of the most recent projects to date in the energy sector, announced at the beginning of the month, is the construction of a network of high-voltage power transmission lines from Cameroon to Chad.

This is going to be submitted in a few weeks time to the African Development Bank with the aim of obtaining financing.
