EU to invest 83 million USD in Benin in 2010

The European Union is going to invest 83.1 million Dollars in Benin this year, it was learned on Friday 12 February.

Françoise Collet, head of the EU delegation in Cotonou, made the announcement at a press conference.

The funds, allocated within the framework of the European Development Fund, will be invested in particular in a number of infrastructure projects

The national media have reported that Benin has need of upgrading projects with regard to infrastructures of electricity production and distribution.

In the latest edition, the newspaper La Nouvelle Tribune made reference to an increase in power cuts over the past few weeks, sometimes with two incidents a day in Cotonou.
