Africa’s Future and the World Bank’s Support to It

Description

The renewed regional strategy was developed through widespread consultations. It sets World Bank directions in support of Africa’s transformation and provides the framework in which to embed country strategies. The strategy builds on lessons learned from the Africa Action Plan (AAP) and the recent Independent Evaluation Group (IEG) Evaluation of the AAP.

The strategy has two pillars, (a) competitiveness and employment, and (b) vulnerability and resilience, and a foundation—governance and public sector capacity. The long-term challenges and emerging issues identified in the strategy are consistent with the World Bank’s Post-Crisis Directions and the International Development Association (IDA) policy framework.
