Knowledge Center
The Knowledge Center will encourage knowledge sharing by offering a public, searchable online database for documentation on African infrastructure.
Users will be able to search or browse an online database that is organized by sectors – Energy, Transport, Water, Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and General Infrastructure. The database will also allow searches by subsector, Regional Economic Community, country, Specialized Institutions, Topics/Themes, and date of publication.
What is the purpose of the Knowledge Center?
The Knowledge Center aims to make the latest studies, reports and research on African infrastructure available to its members, African partners and the general public. This sharing of knowledge not only promotes the research being done by ICA members and other international organizations, but also advances the development of African infrastructure by helping to avoid the waste of valuable resources due to duplication of studies and by enhancing the overall quality of reporting.
What kind of information can I find in the Knowledge Center?
All documentation in the Knowledge Center database will be organized by the key sectors in African infrastructure – Energy, Transport, Water, Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and General Infrastructure. In addition, documentation is categorized by subsector, Regional Economic Community, country, Specialized Institutions, Topics/Themes, and date of publication.
Who can use the Knowledge Center?
The ICA Knowledge Center search and browse facilities are free-of-charge and open to everyone, including ICA members, African stakeholders, infrastructure experts, investors, researchers, African decision makers and the general public.
The following types of documentation can be found in the Knowledge Center:
- ICA Publications
- Official publications of ICA-member institutions
- Studies/research papers
- Reports
- Information on events & conferences (e.g. outcome statements, presentations, minutes, etc.)
How can users find documents?
The Knowledge Center will present three possibilities for finding African infrastructure-related documentation:
- Quick Search – by sector and country
- Advanced Search – with a choice of five categories: sector/subsector, Regional Economic Community, African country, Specialized Institutions, Topics/Themes, and date of publication
- Browse – by sector and subsector
Which languages does the Knowledge Center include?
English and French are the official languages of the Infrastructure Consortium for Africa. Therefore, documentation should be submitted to the Knowledge Center in English and/or French.
Who can submit documents to the Knowledge Center?
In our initial launch phase, only ICA members will be invited to submit documentation.
Invitations to submit documentation will be extended to non-ICA members (development banks, private entities, research institutions, universities, etc.) at a later date, once the Knowledge Center is fully operational, with a solid base of infrastructure documentation.
Whom do I contact for questions related to the Knowledge Center?
For any questions related to the submission of documentation to the ICA Knowledge Center, please send an e-mail with your detailed message to ica.knowledge@afdb.org
Due to limited staffing resources, the ICA Secretariat will only respond to questions directly related to the ICA Knowledge Center. We thank you in advance for your understanding.
